Superb blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers? I'm hoping to start my own site soon but I'm a little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I'm totally confused .. Any recommendations? Kudos!

Hi Ron,

I have left that out on purpose. Full explanations for the behavior of the characters will follow in the next chapter. As to where we go next...the past!

Cheers,

I liked it and it leaves me wondering where you will go next with it. One small thing I noticed that was inconsistent and left me wondering if it was intentional or an oversight. You describe him as forgettable but have numerous people who remember him when it is necessary for an alibi. If it was intentional I might draw attention to it by say something like "amazingly" to draw attention to the contrast and indicate it is not an unintentional contradiction. I hope when someone beta reads my stuff that will be the worst they find to comment on.

Aside from your course, what other costs are involved in order to create an interactive ebook?

Hi Cathy,

I had thought it would take a lot of time and effort, but once set up it literally only takes a few minutes per book. It is also quite fun!

Admittedly quite a bit of my initial enthusiasm came from seeing I had lost several hundred this month on printing costs, and was looking for a way to cut that bill down. However, when I set everything up I actually found it quite fun. It is also great to see the books you sell literally being created in front of your eyes, and especially if you are as money conscious as me.

Cheers,
Colin Palfrey

Good article, Colin. Depending on how much effort you want to put in, making your own books could be an interesting and creative sideline. Thanks!

Yes I understand what you mean, but I want new authors to have a chance of competing with the big boys and they wont do this fighting fair.

If I release a title nowadays I can throw quite a bit of money behind the PR. A new author cannot do this, so I want to show them how they can at least show up in the Amazon search results and have a fighting chance of making a sale.
